Sindh govt accepts offer for JC on functioning FIA in province

KARACHI: The Sindh government on Saturday accepted Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan’s offer to set up a judicial commission on functioning of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in province.
As per details, former president and PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari had accused the FIA and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of harassing the PPP leaders.
Responding to Zardari’s criticism, the interior minister on Wednesday offered to conduct judicial scrutiny of all FIA cases.
Nisar said he was ready to constitute a Commission on role of FIA and its performance if former president desired so. He, however, added: “I have always advised FIA and other departments of the ministry to ensure justice and rule of law”.
The Sindh government has been expressing reservations over the activities of federal institutions in the province, saying the FIA and the anti-corruption watchdog were overstepping their mandate.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also publically criticized the NAB for harassing government employees
