KARACHI: Sindh Minister for information and Local Government Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that it was not justified to play politics over the natural disaster and miseries of the people.
He said this while talking to media at Abbasi Shahhed Hospital on Sunday where he visited to inquire about the health of the affected people of heatstroke. The KMC Administrator Roshan Shaikh, Commissioner Karachi Shoib Siddiqi and other officers also present on the occasion.
Sharjeel Memen said that the power crisis was the main cause of the 50 percent casualties in heatstroke and held the responsible to federal government and K-electric for more than 1000 death.
The Minister said that most of people who died were aged including the women and the electric company held the responsible for continue load shedding. The Minister said that K-electric also admitted that it earned billions of rupees but its system is old dated and non functional that’s why the people faced worst kind of load shedding in summer.
He said that the government declared emergency in government hospitals and treatment were being provided to affected people. He said doctors and paramedical staff available round the clock for the service to the people in ASH. He said that heatstroke affected people were being brought daily in all government and private hospitals.
He said the government launched media campaign to inform the people to save themselves from heatstroke while people can contact with the KMC and commissioner Karachi helpline.
He said action was taken against ghost employees and government stopped salary of 140 Abbasi Shaheed Hospital while showcasue notices were issuesd to 33 employees including 27 doctors.
