ISLAMABAD: The Senate on Thursday passed the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Local Government (LG) elections Bill 2015 with majority.
According to the reports, the newly passed bill will now be presented before the National Assembly for approval.
If National Assembly passes the said Bill then the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will hold local body elections in the capital.
The bill is aimed at reorganising the local government system in the federal capital and recommends holding elections on a party basis.
The Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government Bill 2015 was tabled by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
