ISLAMABAD: Saudi Foreign Minister Saud Al-Faisal telephoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday night, sources said on Thursday, to discuss the developing situation in Yemen.
According to sources, the Saudi FM reiterated Saudi Arabia’s request for assistance from Pakistan over the Yemen situation regarding Huthi rebels.
The Pakistan Foreign Office confirmed today that Saudi Arabia had contacted Pakistan and the request was being evaluated.
Saudi Arabia and a coalition of regional allies launched air strikes against Huthi rebels in Yemen, the start of a military operation to protect the government.
The FO spokeswoman told reporters during the weekly news briefing that no decision had been taken to close Pakistan’s Embassy in Yemen.
