LAHORE: Federal Railway Minister, Khawaja Saad Rafique Sunday announced a reduction in freight-train fares with additional facilities being offered to compete with the road-transporters.
Addressing a press conference here, Khawaja Saad Rafique claimed that the Pakistan Railways earned Rs5.25 billion more during the last 10 months of PML-N’s government as compared to the same period in the previous year.
The minister attributed the positive change to the reduction in fares, departmental discipline, transparent sale of scrap material and restoration of freight trains.
The federal railway minister claimed that the four senior politicians who held the portfolio of railways minister, failed to bring the railway back on track.
Saad Rafique also announced running shuttle service on different routes and an increase in the number of bogies in several trains for the convenience and comfort of the people.
