Rangers to provide security to Karachi traffic police: DIG

KARACHI: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Police Karachi Dr. Amir Ahmed Shaikh said that Rangers personnel would now provide security to traffic police in Karachi.
According to the details, a high level meeting, it was decided that traffic police officials would notify the Rangers regarding high traffic areas of the city.
The meeting concluded that with the presence of both Rangers as well as traffic police personnel, there would be better control over traffic as well as security.
The DIG Traffic Police stated that until the culprits involved in the attacks on Karachi traffic police personnel were not apprehended, work cannot move forward.
He called for both Rangers as well as Police Commandos to provide security to traffic police personnel.
During at least four recent incidents, three traffic police personnel in Karachi were shot dead, while five were injured.
