KARACHI: At least four suspected terrorists were killed and six others were arrested on Saturday when the Sindh Rangers conducted an intelligence-based operation in Karachi’s Old Golimar area.
The operation was conducted against ‘criminals’ who were allegedly affiliated with the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and who were also said to have been engaged with gangs operating in the city’s Lyari Town.
According to the Sindh Rangers, the suspects resorted to indiscriminate firing during the operation, which was met by retaliation from members of the paramilitary force. The crossfire led to the death of four suspected terrorists — Babul Baloch, Chota Sajid, Khalid Mandhi and Rafique.
The press release added that the criminals were involved in anti-state activities with the BLA. They were engaged in extortion, kidnapping for ransom and were allegedly behind a number of targeted killings. Along with weapons, a large quantity of narcotics was also recovered from the suspects’ possession.
