ISLAMABAD: PTI adamant to Justice (r) Nasir Aslam Zahids appointment ISLAMABAD: As government and opposition leader finalised three names for the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is adamant on its stance for Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid’s appointment as new head of country top election body.
Names of Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan, Justice (retd) Tariq Pervez and Justice (retd) Tanveer Ahmed have been finalised by in a meeting between Leader of the Opposition Syed Khursheed Shah and Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
One of the three persons will be announced as new chief of Election Commissioner of Pakistan (ECP).
“All the three persons are respectable for us but nominating a new head will be ineffective without changing remaining members of the ECP,” PTI’s Naeem-ul-Haq spoke to media.
“Free and fair elections can’t be held without revamping the election commission,” he said, adding that his party considered Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid as an suitable persons for the top ECP slot.
