PMD predicts rain on Eid-ul-Fitr

ISLAMABAD: Director General, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Dr Ghulam Rasool on Monday indicated chances of rain during the Eid-ul-Fitr.
Talking to newsmen, he said that there are chances of cloudy weather conditions along with rain and pleasant breeze in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir during the Eid days.
Dr. Ghulam Rasool said incursion of monsoon winds are also likely in upper parts of Sindh and Balochistan during Eid. During the next two days, the weather would remain hot and humid in most parts of the country, however, there are chances of rain on July 16 in some parts of the country, he said.
According to the PMD weather report, mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain-thundershower is expected at isolated places in Gujranwala, Quetta, Zhob, Kalat divisions, FATA, Kashmir and its adjoining areas.
Seasonal low was lying over southwest Balochistan and its adjoining areas with its trough extending eastwards. Weak monsoon currents were penetrating into northeastern parts of the country.
The rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours was Murree 25, Khuzdar 12, Garhi Dupatta 10, Kasur 9, Rawalakot 8, Kotli 8, Gujranwala 5, Lasbela 5, Mangla 5, Muzaffarabad 5, Parachinar 5, Skardu 5, Lahore Airport 4, Lahore PBO 4, Mandibahauddin 2, Jhelum 2, Cherat 2, Kakul 1, Sialkot Airport 1, Drosh 1 and traces in Chitral, Gujrat, Islamabad Zeropoint, Khanpur, Peshawar Airport, Peshawar City, Rahim Yar Khan, Rawalpindi, Risalpur and Sialkot Cantt. The hottest places recorded during the last 24 hours were Nokkundi 44 C,Dalbandin 43 C, Sukkur and Dadu 42 C.
