PM Nawaz meets Asif Ali Zardari

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former President Asif Ali Zardari met at the PM House here on Wednesday.

During their one on one meeting the two leaders discussed several issues including dialogue with the Taliban, Protection of Pakistan Ordinance (PPO), national security and the political situation in the country.

The ongoing operation in Karachi and anti-terrorism laws were also discussed.
Prior to the one on one meeting the two leaders held delegation level talks which included PML-N leaders Ishaq Dar, Zahid Hamid and PPP leaders Khursheed Shah, Raza Rabbani and Murad Ali Shah.

Speaking to the media, Raza Rabbani said reservations of the PPP and other opposition parties over the PPO were conveyed to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Asif Ali Zardari was awarded a warm welcome by Prime Minister Sharif upon his arrival via helicopter at the PM House.

Meanwhile the meeting will review the dialogue process with the Taliban and the situation arising in neighbouring Afghanistan following the presidential election. Sources add that relations with Iran will also be on the agenda.

The country’s top military and civilian leadership will be present during the meeting.

PM’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Defence Minister Khwaja Asif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid will be present from the civilian leadership.

The heads of the armed forces, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, DG ISI and DG IB will also be in attendance.
