PFUJ forms new committee to unite on one platform

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has decided unanimously to increase the process of wiping out all groups in PFUJ and unite them on one platform and take it forward in an organized way.
This was decided here on Sunday, it was also decided after ending the unification committee working under Zaiuddin, to form a new committee led by senior journalist Mohammad Raiz to tackle affairs of unification of PFUJ under Article 24 (3) of the constitution.
The committee would conduct elections of all the unions of journalists affiliated with PFUJ throughout Pakistan till 30 January 2017, according to the constitution, while the committee would conduct the elections of PFUJ on 31st March 2017 as per constitution, members belonging to all UJs would be included in the committee.
The members of the committee include Saleem Shahid, khursheed Tanweer, Syed Bukhar Shah, Rai Hasneen Tahir, Lala Asad Pathan, Hamid Yaseen, Mazhar Rasheed, Mubarkh Zeb, Shakeel Ahmed, Adil Akram, Tariq Mehmood, Lala Rehman and Shahid Chudhary.
This important session of BDM was presided by Ibrahim Khan and it was decided that the adhoc committee headed by Mohammad Raiz would take measures to monitor the entire election process of PFUJ and UJs, and look into matters including the appointment of election commission, while all the office bearers of PFUJ and member FEC would perform all the duties of solving problems of media workers in the country, freedom of press according to the mandate given by the constitution till the election, while it would be in contact with International Federation of Journalists and other international media organizations.
The committee would also strive for job and other issues faced by media workers, the representatives also gave power to head of committee Mohammad Raiz to form sub-committees, if there be need, to maintain discipline of PFUJ, to finish all the groups within and to have new membership and to resolve other issues. He has also the mandate to have support of senior members and include them in committees, so that the committee might work effectively according to the given mandate.
