PCB management committee stopped from working

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee has been stopped from working while Justice (retd) Jamshed Ali Shah has been appointed as the board’s interim chairman for the next 30 days.

A two member Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Saqib Nisar heard the case pertaining to the appointment of PCB chairman. Attorney General Salman Aslam Butt presented the notification of the new PCB constitution in court.

According to the notification Justice (retd) Jamshed Ali Shah will be the PCB chairman for 30 days and the new governing body will hold elections within 30 days.

While, The attorney general informed the apex court that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had approved the new PCB constitution on Wednesday.

Justice (R) Jamshed Ali Shah has been appointed as acting chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for next 30days.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Saqib Nisar heard the case pertaining to the appointment of PCB chairman.

According to the notification issued by attorney general, Najam Sethi was removed from the post of chairmanship while the Prime Minister barred the PCB management committee from working.

Earlier on Wednesday, PM Nawaz approved the new PCB constitution.

Under the PCB constitution, the new governing body will hold elections within 30 days while Justice (R) Jamshed will also be the Chief Election Commissioner, the notification stated.

The attorney general also confirmed that the new chief will take charge of the post from today.
