Pakistan elected to two UN bodies

United Nations—Pakistan was elected to two United Nations’ panels on Thursday in recognition of the country’s contribution to the work of the world body, officials said. The panels are: the Commission on Science and Technology for Development and the Committee on Non-Governmental Organisations. Pakistan will serve both panels for four-year terms beginning on 1 January 2015 and expiring on 31 December 2018.

Elections took place at a session of Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the economic arm of the United Nations.—APP
