Nawaz chairs high level meeting to discuss national security issues

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday chaired a high level meeting to discuss issues relating to national security, sources said.

The sources said that Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence Lt. Gen Zaheerul Islam and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and other high officials attended the meeting.

They said overall security situation in the country, Taliban talks and Nawaz Sharif’s recent meeting with new Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi came under discussion.

Sharif visited India to attend oath-taking ceremony of Modi, a Hindu nationalist belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party, who secured a thumping victory in India’s mammoth general election.
