KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Qamar Mansoor on Thursday accused Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman of being the sympathizer of the outlawed Taliban and terrorists.
Addressing a press conference here, MQM leader Qamar Mansoor, flanked by other Rabitta committee members, said his party chief Altaf Hussain had quoted Quranic verses in the light of which hypocrites can be identified and that it is clear that Maulana Fazl ur Rehman has adopted the way of hypocrites.
He said Maulana Fazl exhibited a biased mindset on the matter of holding the Taliban to account, adding that MQM had already presented its stance over Saulat Mirza and Ajmal Pahari.
“Saulat Mirza has been behind the bars for the last 15 years, while Ajmal Pahari has never been convicted by any court”, Mansoor said.
Qamar Mansoor said the supporters of Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman had killed the youngsters of Pakistan in cold blood. He asked as to how the Moulana could forget the martyrs and missing persons of MQM.
He said women are not allowed to exercise their right to cast ballot in the strongholds of JUI-F.
Mansoor asked Moulana Fazl-ur-Rehman as to who were targeting polio vaccination teams in the country.
The MQM leader further asked the JUI-F chief to declare the foreign funding of his organization, saying that once Moulana had been caught with dollars at an airport by the authorities.
He said Moulana Fazl-ur-Rehman was pushing the country towards fire, accusing him of pitching one brother against another.
Meanwhile, MQM senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar in a separate statement said had Mufti Mehmood, father of Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, been alive today, the funding would not be used in fulfilling the personal agenda.
“Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman is responsible of all the terrorist activities in the country,” he snapped.
Another MQM leader Babar Ghauri said that Moulana Fazl ur Rehman tried to divide the nation even before the Chehlum of the Peshawar school martyrs.
“Moulana Fazl said yes to constitutional amendment in presence of the Army Chief during the All Parties Conference (APC) and opposed the same later”, Ghauri said.
