KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Food Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has issued show cause notice to the District Food Controllers of seven districts who failed to achieve the target of wheat procurement. According to details the district food controllers of Hyderabad, Tando Allah Yar, Dadu, Matyari, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas and Umerkot showed poor performance and could not achieve the target of wheat procurement. While taking the notice of their poor performance Minister for Food Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, issued them show cause notices.
Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said that the said officers were busy in minting money and did not take interest to protect the interests of the department, so departmental action was being taken against them. Besides this Minister for Food was informed in a meeting that Food Department Sindh had procured 10 lac 63 thousand tonnes wheat during current year while last year total procured was 10 lac 60 thousand tonnes. It was also informed that the process of wheat procurement was going on and the target of 13 lac tonnes wheat would be achieved soon.
A special team of Food Department raided in Taluka Nara Distirict Khairpur and recovered 35 thousand wheat bags which were illegally stored.

KARACHI: The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that because of Efficient Financial Management (EFM), his administration has decreased non-development expenditure up to Rs. 8 billion and also targeting 25 percent to 30 percent more receipts during this year as compared to last year. He said that he was optimistic that next financial budget for 2014-15 would be people-friendly in which services delivery organizations would be more strengthen to facilitate the common man specially in Health, Education and Water sector. This he observed while presiding over a high level meeting to set the guide lines for new Annual Development Program (ADP) 2014-15, criteria for completion of on ongoing and new development schemes in shortest span held at CM House Karachi today.
The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah while talking on the occasion said that despite of launching targeted operation in Karachi, facing the challenge of drought at Tharparkar and other arid zones, and restoration of subsidy for WASA-KWSB, non-development fund was decreased and Rs. 8 billion so far have been saved. He said that it was also because of our better financial management and good governance that we are exceeding in tax collection as compared to last year and added that the performances in releases, expenditures and tax collection of Sindh is better than others provinces.
The Chief Minister Sindh while referring health issues in the province directed the officers to keep more provision of funds for health sector, purchase of medicines and to conceive schemes for establishment of liver transplantation hospital in the province. He said that funds to activate vertical health programme should be kept in new budget. Referring the issues of electric charges, the Chief Minister Sindh said that he has restored the subsidy of Rs. 800 million for WASA Hyderabad, Rs. 05 billion for KWSB, 900 million for the water supply units in Sindh and directed the finance department to enhance the budget in this head and enable each department to clear its electric charges without fail, but it must be on real consumption he added.
The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah was of the view that in-addition to regular development budget, special packages would also be awarded to develop and upgrade the status of different districts/ towns in Sindh in the new budget. Advisor to CM for Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, Additional Chief Secretary for Development Wasim Ahmed, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajput, Secretary Planning Ms Rehana Memon and other officers from Planning and Development and Finance Department attended this meeting.
CHIEF SECRETARY ASKS THE CONCERNED OFFICIALS TO BE ALERT

KARACHI: Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiana has asked the Provincial Disaster Management Authority and all concerned departments to strengthen liaison to ensure acute preparedness in combating flood 2014. He expressed these views while presiding a high level meeting in Sindh Secretariat, on Monday. The meeting reviewed the arrangements of preparedness and contingencies plan monsoon-2014. Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Maj. General Saeed Alam assured best cooperation to this effect.
Director General PDMA Syed Salman Shah, briefed the participants about contingency plan. The Secretary Irrigation Babar Effendi apprised about the salient features of the strategic plan with the specific reference off vulnerable points of the barrages, lakes and canals in the province.
The Chief Secretary advised the officials to remain alert and work devotedly in attaining the strategic target to save the human lives and properties including cattles and wildlife in view of the forth coming monsoon. He emphasized upon coordinated efforts in this regard.
YOUTH AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT ORGANIZES SEMINAR “YOUNG WRITING WORLD” ON 20TH MAY

KARACHI: Since the establishment of Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sindh, has always given youngsters a chance to move forward in one way or the other. Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sindh has organized a seminar on “Young Writing World” with the collaboration of Advance Educational Institute and Research Centre on 20th May, 2014 at Hotel Regent Plaza at 2.30 p.m. Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Youth Afffairs Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari will be the chief guest on the occasion.
The main idea of the seminar is to motivate the young generation to learn writing skills, as writing is an essential part of academic and professional life. The session will mainly focus on the academic paper writing; however, it will also cover the topics related to resume writing, article and column writing, business and different styles of letter writing.
DOCTOR REMOVED FROM SERVICE ON ABSENCE

KARACHI: Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiana has categorically noted that none is the superior to law thus this must be part of duty of each and every civil servant to strictly abide by all rules and regulations including the qualities of discipline and punctuality.
He expressed these views, while hearing the cases of service affairs viz absence and other at his office here on Tuesday.
Dr. Ziauddin Kazi SMO (BPS-18) who remained absent for 03-years (2011-2014) has been removed from services in accordance with rules and government policy.
04 more officers of BPS-18 were given last chance to finally appear in the next hearing, while Dr. Zenat who desires transfer in another province has been allowed 03 months time to make efforts for having N.O.C. from Punjab Government where his husband is working in similar capacity.
Those officers who attended the meeting include Additional Secretary Services Rafique Mustafa and Director Public Relations to Chief Secretary Naukhaiz Anwar Siddiqui.
