WASHINGTON: The US has termed lifting moratorium on executions the internal matter of Pakistan.
In a briefing, spokesperson for US State Department Marie Harf said Pakistan is the most affected country in war against terrorism and lifting moratorium on executions is its internal matter.
She said US Present Barack Obama and Secretary John Kerry both spoke to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after Peshawar school attack and stood ready to provide assistance in the wake of that horrific attack.
To a question Ms. Harf said, terrorism is a threat for both US and Pakistan and they had worked jointly to counter this menace.
To a question on the bail granted to accused in Mumbai attacks, Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, Harf said US is concerned over it. The Government of Pakistan had pledged its cooperation in bringing the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks to justice, she said and hoped that Pakistan would uphold that promise.
