Kamran expected to replace Umar in WC squad

KARACHI: Umar Akmal is at risk of losing his World Cup place to his elder brother Kamran Akmal.

It was expected that in form Sarfraz Ahmed would be named as the No.1 wicket keeper of the squad and out of form middle order batsman Umar Akmal would be able to make the squad as a second wicket keeper.

But according to sources, Kamran Akmal who has been Pakistan’s wicket keeper in the last two World Cups is being considered as the back up wicket keeper and could be tried as a third opener.

Kamran’s inclusion could bring the axe down on out of form opener Nasir Jamshed and pave way for an allrounder.

If Kamran gets the selectors nod Umar Akmal and Nasir Jamshed could face the axe.
