Independence celebrations kicked off in Sukkur

Independence Day celebrations kicked off here and other districts of the Upper Sindh with people having started decorating their houses, buildings, markets, shops and vehicles with national flags, stickers and fancy lights to express their love for the country.
Different functions and ceremonies will be held at government and private levels in tehsil. National flag has been hoisted on all the Govt buildings which include Commissioner Office, DIG Office, SSPs Offices, Deputy Commissioners (DCs) offices, Finance department, FBR, Taluka Municipal Administration building, Govt and private schools and other important places.
These celebrations will remain continue till 31st Aug 2014. Special speech contests, sports, painting exhibitions are being held at different level.
Despite of summer vacation all govt schools have been opened to hold different independence day functions. Independence day walks are being held to highlight the importance of freedom.
Meetings, rallies, seminars, talk shows and cake cutting functions will be held at division and district level.
However, Commissiner Sukkur, Muhamamd Abbas Baloch has urged the common people, heads of the different departments, NGOs, social, religious, educational and cultural organisations to celebrate the 14th of August this year at every level, besides the programmes being conducted by the district governments of the Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki and Noshehferoze districts.
