HYD JOURNALISTS PROTEST AGAINST TORCHING COPIES OF DAILY UMMAT

HYDERABAD: Journalists of Hyderabad under joint banner of Hyderabad Union of Journalists Dastoor and Hyderabad press club held protest demonstration in front of press club here Saturday against torching of daily Ummat by workers of a Sindh based political party. The protest demonstration was led by Abdul Hafeez Abid vice president Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (Dastoor) and Hyderabad press club president Altaf Koti.
The participants raised slogans against violence on journalists, suppression of newspapers and journalists working there through vandalism by workers of political parties to pressurize them from writing truth.
The journalists raised slogans for freedom of press. Those who participated included Naseer Rahi senior vice president and Abbas Kassar general secretary Hyderabad Union of Journalists and others. The journalists demanded from government to take notice of violence and torching of newspapers by few workers of a political party and provide protection to journalists.
