ISLAMABAD: Federal information minister Pervaiz Rashid has said that the freedom of press would be completely protected.
Talking to media representatives here Sunday, Rashid said that cable operators do not have a right to shut any channel and that they should work in accordance with the law.
He further said that the freedom should be exercised responsibly.
The minister said that the practice of “street justice” is not acceptable as no one could be allowed to advocate and issue judgments himself.
Rashid said that the prime minister has constituted a committee which would look into the matters pertaining to media.
He further said that Imran Khan is not able to face the people of Peshawar over his party-led provincial government’s one-year performance.
