LOS ANGELES: Madonna is no stranger to the punishing schedule that comes along with an international tour, however, preparations for her upcoming Rebel Heart shows have become so time consuming, the iconic singer has revealed that she hired someone to follow her around the clock to make sure that she is eating.
The 56-year-old star, who is kicking off her Rebel Heart tour on September 9 in Montreal, sat down with Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen to talk about the tour shows, admitting that she has been spending 10 to 12 hours a day prepping for the series of performances and was actually forced to enlist an aide to make sure she remembers to eat enough.
‘I call her the food police,’ Madonna tells Andy in the interview that appears in Entertainment Weekly. ‘”Are you eating? Did you drink enough water?”
Madonna is known for keeping her age-defying body trimmed and toned with a strict diet and exercise, but now it’s clear that she also relies on a staffer to make sure she doesn’t wither away while perfecting her strenuous dance routines.
The Material Girl has teased her upcoming tour with behind-the-scenes clips she shared on her YouTube channel, and footage shows plenty of choreography, including a group of dancers swinging on stripper poles while dressed like nuns.
‘I just like the juxtaposition,’ Madonna said. ‘I’m very immersed in deconstructing the concept of sexuality and religion and how it’s not supposed to go together, but in my world it goes together.’
