Irrigation officials with heavy machinery reached to plug and contruct Mangli

LARKANA: River Indus flood water after Guddu-Sukkur towards Kotri mounted its pressure at various locations of Larkana and other parts, L.S embankment near Larkana-Khairpur Bridge eroded and about 10 ft leakage develop, plug after Moria (S.L) embankment near village Yar Mohammed Ghumro here on Friday.
In an emergency sitauion, the irrigation officials reached at Larkana-Khairpur Bridge near Sher Mohammed Jatoi village along with heavy machinery to plug the leakages at L.S dyke by a Mangli construction, where the erode and seepage started at Friday evening.
Senior Minister for Irrigation and Information Nisar Khuhro directed the officials to plug immediately and report the situation. About a week back another S.L Bund was plugged after hectic effots of irrigation officials.
Due to High Flood situation at Guddu-Sukkur and Sukkur-Kotri all the Katcha areas of River Indus to the tail-end Province inundated hundreds and thousands of of villages and mass population displaced. All claims of irrigation department to strengthening the dykes proved inefficiency and lack of concern for a long.
The flood recorded at Guddu Barrage was 585344 cuseces flood water and downstream 558064, Sukkur Barrage was recorded at 515530 cusec and 561505 cusec downstream here on Friday 14th August 2015, while, flood at Kotri Barrage was recorded at 601565 cusecs and downstream level was 56937 cusecs respectively.
It is noted that for a week high flood at Guddu and SukKur Barrages recorded and currently inundated hundreds of villages in Katcha areas of Sukkur, Ghotki, Kashmore-Kandhkot, Shikarpur, Khairpur Mir’s Larkana, Naushehroferoze, Kotri, Jamshoro and other areas of province.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) provided solar panels light, mosquito nets and tents to develop the cities at different locations but all failures observed.
According to the PDMA, 2962 villages have been evacuated, while total population was 846041 people also evacuated told authority. There are about 486 relief camps were established to rehabilitate the displaced population and these numbers of over 217174 number of people on the occasion.
The total livestock over 557452 was also evacuated during continous flood water and turning situations to normal told PDMA to this scribe.
