Five new polio cases reported across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Five new polio cases were reported in different areas of the country, taking the total number of this year’s cases rise upto 99 on Saturday.
One of the victims was identified as 21-month-old Hamza from Gadap Town Manghopir Sultanabad, Karachi. His parents reportedly refused to give him polio drops during the campaign.
The other four victims are 24-month-old Jaul Haq from Miramshah, 18-month-old Mariam from North Waziristan, 18-month-old Fayyaz from South Waziristan and Maya from Lakki Marwat.
According to Express News reporter Razia Khan, the number of polio cases reported in the country is rising due to the relocation of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan. She further added that the provincial and federal governments will take steps for routine immunisation against the virus for IDPs.
