Finance ministry is solely accountable for petrol crisis: Shahid Khaqan

ISLAMABAD: Federal Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday put the blame squarely on the Ministry of Finance for the current petrol crisis in Punjab and KPK.
In a briefing to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the petroleum minister said that the finance ministry did not release funds to the Pakistan State Oil on time that created severe shortage of petrol.

The Finance Ministry is headed by Ishaq Dar, who is a relative of the prime minister. Following the briefing, PM Sharif termed Abbasi’s reasoning as ‘unsatisfactory. He said that those responsible for the crisis would be held accountable.
