KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader, Senator Raza Rabbani Sunday said former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf had stepped down from his position in a bid to escape impeachment.
Talking to media representatives here, Raza Rabbani said his party had never accepted Musharraf as a constitutional president.
He said Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Ishaq Dar was also part of the then impeachment committee.
“People’s Party had made it clear to Mushrraf that Parliament wanted to go ahead with an impeachment motion against him,” he told the reporters, adding, legal proceedings should carry on against Musharraf.
To a question, he said any privatization in the absence of approval by the Council of Common Interest (CCI) is unconstitutional. “We will never allow PIA’s privatization under any circumstances,” he added.
