JAMSHORO: Federation of All Pakistan Academic Staff Association (FAPASA) has announced a boycott of the academic process throughout universities of Sindh as the government has failed to resolve the issues concerning teachers including political interference, hiring retired officials and posting teachers on administrative posts.
According to details the FAPASA a joint organization of universities of Sindh had a press conference on 25 August in this regard and had warned if their demands don’t meet they would go for protest, but the Sindh government took no notice.
In a statement the president FAPASA, Sindh Chapter Mir Shahnawaz Talpur and general secretary Dr. Shakeel Farooqi mentioned that Higher Education Commission (HEC) is ignoring the universities of Sindh, the universities lack funds as the annual grants are not given to them, there have been hiring in the universities on political basis and they condemn it.
“We don’t want damage prestige of the universities, but cannot remain silent over injustice done to us, retired people are hired on administrative posts, which has become hurdle in promotion of teachers, such retired people should not be given posts in the universities.
It may be noted that the Officers’ Association has also supported FAPASA’s protest and would join them in it.
