Explosion Hits Police Van, While, Private Bank Looted In Karachi

KARACHI: The 17th bank robbery of the year occurred in the city on Thursday as dacoits looted millions of rupees from a branch of a private bank situated at Bahadurabad.

According to police, six dacoits entered the bank, looted the money and fled from the scene easily.

A security guard received bullet injuries while resisting to the dacoits.

The police registered the case and started investigation.

An explosion occurred near a police van in North Nazimabad in wee hours of the day.

The incident occurred near Farooq-e-Azam mosque near North Nazimabad, Sakhi Hassan. The blast damaged a police van standing nearby the spot. No loss of life reported in the incident.

Sources said miscreants lobbed a hand grenade at police van and fled. Police immediately called Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) at the spot and cordoned off the area.

Police officials confirmed that their van was damaged in the blast. They said no reports were received regarding loss of any life.
