KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that the aim of vaccination is to protect every child atleast from 9 deadly diseases and distribution of 550 motorbikes among vaccinators in high risk districts of Sindh will enable them to reach and vaccinate every child. This he said as a chief guest in motorcycles handing over ceremony to department of health for strengthening out reach activities in Sindh here on Friday at a local hotel. He said that the Sindh government was working more on preventive care with the positive approach so as to give relief to all eligible community through EPI, MNCH, Nutrition and other vertical program services.
He added, ‘Due to district governments the primary and secondary case services deteriorated badly and as a result, out of pocket expenditure increased manifold and poorer segment and distant people were left at mercy of private care providers, which is near to 70% Sindh,’
Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar thanked USAID for its valuable support extended let it be the Gynae and Obs. Unit at JPMC, Jacobabad Institute of Health Sciences (JIMS) and the MCH Program for Sindh.
On this occasion Deputy Mission leader USAID Leon Waskin said that US wanted a healthy Pakistan and they were investing in health and education sectors and trying to provide quality health facilities to the people of Pakistan. While speaking on the occasion Provincial Coordinator Oversight Coordination Committee Begam Shahnaz Wazir Ali said that mobility was a serious I issue to the vaccinators to reach remote areas in interior Sindh and it would be easy to them to focus on missed children for vaccination. Secretary Health Sindh Iqbal Durrani said that in fact mortality rate is higher in Pakistan as compared to neighboring countries and we should focus on immunization programs and to access to difficult areas as well. The ceremony was also addressed by Provincial program manager EPI Dr. Mahar Khamisani, Dr. Nabeela Ali and Dr. Khalid Sheikh. On the occasion signing ceremony of handing over of motorcycles to Health Department Sindh was also held.
