SUKKUR: The Institue of Modern Science and Arts (IMS&A) Hyderabad has nominated the Vice Chancellor (VC), Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur Professor Dr Parveen Shah for Award of Excellence in recognition of her extraordinary strenuous efforts towards education of Sindh and for the promotion of education, research, prompt and efficient working at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, said a SALU announcemnet here on Wednesday.
The Senior Minister for Education & Literacy, Govt. of Sindh, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, who is also the Pro-Chancellor of Universities of Sindh will present the Award of Excellence on the occasion of IMS&A 8th Convocation schedule to be held on 27th June 2014 at local hotel of Hyderabad.
Cheaques distributes among 50 students of SALU worth of Rs 140,000 under PMFRS

SUKKUR: Vice Chancellor (VC), Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur Dr. Parveen Shah alongwith Pro-Vice Chancellor (P-VC), Main Campus SALU, Dr Miandad Zardari, Registrar Dr Syed Asad Raza Abidi have distributed the cheques and certificates among more than 50 students worth of Rs140,000 on Wednesday under the Prime Minister’s 100 per cent Fee Reimbursement Scheme (PMFRS).
The cheques were distributed among the post-graduate students of SALU for the reimbursement of their educational expenses.
Addressing the ceremony, the VC Ms Shah expressed pleasure over the event saying that the Prime Minister has allocated equal share for the youths in all of his youth schemes.
She said that “I am delighted to say that the youths of less privilege areas are equally talented to those who are living in other parts of the country which means there is no dearth of talent in any of the less privilege areas,” she maintained.
She said that her university was paying attention to impart higher education with quality and conducting research as it was the need of hour to extend support to the economy by creating skilled and trained youths. “Youth is future, vision, hope and beyond it,” she said, adding that if the youths were educated and trained; they would bring the change in the society.
Speaking on the occasion, Pro VC Dr Zardari maintained that under the scheme, 100 per cent reimbursement of educational expenses upto Rs. 100,000 for the financially underprivileged students of the less developed areas of the country was a big leap forward towards attainment of higher education.
Registrar SALU, Asad Raza Abidi said while speaking on the occasion that if we succeeded to develop our youth through education and training from less developed areas, they could play their vital role in resolving the socio-economic issues of respective less developed areas in the country adding that this scheme would highly contribute to capacity building of the recipients.
On the occasion more than 50 students including Ghulam Sarwar Channa, Azizullah, Ataullah, Anis-ur-Rehman, Ms Samreen Abbasi, Ms Samina, Ms Abida and others received the cheques.
Director, Post Graduate Studies, & Focal Person of this scheme, Dr Nisar Ahmed Kanhar, Dean, Faculty of Commerce & Business Administration, Dr Ghulam Murtaza Maitlo, Dr.Mohammad Yousuf Khushk, Dr Abdul Majeed Chandio, Dr Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dr Amir Ali Chandio, Dr Minhoon Khan Laghari, Dr Aslam Memon, Dr Najma Noor Phulpoto, Barkatullah Qureshi and large number of students attended the ceremony.
