KARACHI: The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that his government implementing the different development schemes at the Mirpurkhas Division at the total cost of Rs. 28884.638 millions and has allocated Rs. 2262million only for ongoing District Development schemes in current financial year, to bring the backward area of this division up to level of developed areas. In addition to that he announced Rs. one billion for the development package of Mirpurkhas itself and directed the officers concerned to initiated physical work at least for the installation of 200 solar based RO plants out of 750 designed for district Tharparkar for which Rs.1500 million has already released to them.
The Chief Minister Sindh asked the District Development Committee comprised on Deputy Commissioner and MNAa, MPAs of all the districts concerned to identify and submit their new development schemes to Sindh Government without further delay so that current allocation against these new schemes could be made available to them at earliest.
This he directed while presiding over the meeting and video conference with the public representatives and officers of nations building departments of Mirpurkhas Division to review the progress of developments in their areas held at CM House today.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister Sindh said his government is giving top priority to lay down the heavy infrastructure at district Tharparkar to put it on the development track, which is evident from the fact that district Tharparkar is getting the highest share of district ADP Rs. 2 billion after share of the Karachi Rs. 3 billion in same head. The Chief Minister Sindh said that in addition to district development fund as many as Rs. 19534.970 million are being spent on the different development schemes in District tharparkar, Rs. 5835.344 million in Mirpurkhas district. Similarly Rs. 3514.324million are being spent on various specific district, provincial, federal funded, more than one district and Sindh based development schemes at district Umerkot.
He said that his government was trying its best to compete the one or two coal based power projects as soon as possible which according to him lead to the progress and prosperity in the district Tharparkar. Besides efforts are being made and Rs. 1500 million has been released to install at least 200 solar based RO plants out of 750 RO plants schemes to resolve the water problem of the people of Tharparkar district. He said that reconstruction of Mithi to Deeplo, Nangarparkar to Chhachhro and Wango to Naonkot roads has also been taken into head. Similarly infrastructure in the health sector either has been upgraded or being upgraded to ensure efficient health deliveries to the people of this backward areas. He said that he is also aware of urban problems of Mirpurkhas as such Rs. 5835.344 million being invested to implement the schemes other than the district development funds. Besides a special package of Rs. one billion for the development of Mirpurkhas has been earmarked to ensure all basic facilities. The Chief Minister said that in addition to establishment of medical college at Mirpurkhas at the cost of more than two billion, the schemes of upgradation of water supply, drainage and establishment of sewerage treatment plan at Mirpurkhas city at the cost of 1200million has been initiated. Besides different education schemes including establishment of government vocational centre have also been launched.
While discussing with the public representatives of the district Umerkot the Chief Minister Sindh said that special attention was being paid to develop this backward district as such an amount of Rs. 3514.324 millions being spent on the development schemes other then district development schemes. He said that important among these includes construction of District Prison, Rehabilitation of Thar Canal system, urban water supply scheme Umerkot and filtration and construction of roads including from Tebhare Bhambhro to Saeedao via Dodhar Samon road. He informed the public representatives that Rs. 463 millions have been allocated for implementation of ongoing district development schemes of Mirpurkhas, Rs. 316million for ongoing district schemes of district Umerkot and Rs. 1483million for ongoing district schemes of district Tharparkar from District Development Portfolio. The Chief Minister said that the District Development budget has been increased from Rs. 20 billion last year to Rs. 25 billion this year out of which Rs. 15 billion would be spent on ongoing while remaining Rs. 10 billion have been reserved for new district development schemes. He asked the Administration and MPAs/MNAs of the concerned districts to call meeting of district development committee, identify their new schemes and submit the same, so that the development fund under this head could be allocated to them.
It was encouraging factor that almost all the public representatives of Mirpurkhas districts identified their problems, development schemes with open heart and even they praised the Chief Minister Sindh for his administrative steps for providing irrigation water to them and taking them into confidence for development works. Expressing their satisfaction they opined that in addition to development activities supply of irrigation water up to tail end has been improved.

This he observed while talking to media at mausoleum of Qaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, where he and the Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan arrived to perform flag hoisting ceremony and lay floral wreath on the mazar of the father of the nation Qaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah to celebrate 68th National Independence Day. The Senior Sindh Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Minister Food Jam Mehtab Dahar, Sindh Minister for Prisons Manzoor Wasan, Minister Fishries Jam Khan Shoro, Minister for Minority Affairs Gianchand, Minister Industries Rauf Ahmed Siddiqui, Minister for Women Development Rubina Qaimkhani, Advisor to CM for Social Welfare Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, Advisor Culture Ms. Sharmila Farooqui, Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Shehla Raza, Coordinator to CM Mohammad Siddique Abu bhai, Special Assistants to CM Waqar Mehdi, Rashid Rabbani, Haji Muzaffar Shajrah, Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiana, IG Police Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali, Commissioner Karachi Shoab Siddiqui and other officers of Sindh and Federal government were present on the occasion.
Soon after arrival, The Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan and The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah jointly hoisted the national flag in the air amid the national anthem at 9:00am. After national flag hoisting ceremony both the leaders laid the floral wreath on the mazar of Qaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and prayed for national progress and prosperity.
While talking to media on this occasion the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that this country had been got independence through great sacrifices of our elders under the dynamic leadership of Qaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah for progress and prosperity of Muslims of subcontinent under his guiding principles including unity, faith, discipline and national integrity. He said during the last tenure of PPP government the Co-Chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari and Qaid MQM Altaf Hussain with their unity and alliance we achieved goals of progress and prosperity through developmental activities and providing employment to the people. He added that even both parties at present are demonstrating their same gesture and unity in the interest of nation and the country. And added that he was optimistic that we to come up to expectations of people of Sindh.
He said that since we have achieved this country with great sacrifices, we must have to realize its importance and make it stronger to strongest under the principles of faith and unity.
He said that it was also our great achievement that people of Sindh including big cities like Karachi celebrated their Eid and Independence Day with great zeal and enthusiasm because of peaceful atmosphere being maintained by his government. He said that every person witnessed that all shopping centers, bazaars of cities were opened for whole nights on both august events and people were busy to purchase and enjoy their happiness. The Chief Minister while paying rich tribute to the martyrs of Pak Army, who sacrificed their lives at the border and inside the country in the fight against terrorism to protect the nation, said that Pak Army has rendered its marvelous services to defend the country in difficult times. The Pak Army has always played pivotal role in development and rescue operation during disasters and made undefeatable defense of the country, which according to him was the key factor of our development. He said that we are proud of it that we have the world’s best Army to protect the nation.
Responding to a question about present political development, the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah who was also president of PPP Sindh chapter said that at present the country cannot afford the confrontation like situation. He said that democracy and constitution have the solution of our each problem. He said that though each individual has democratic right to protest but it should be within the limits of constitution. Conversion of any protest into confrontation and destruction was not acceptable, he said, and added that Lahore High Court has also given this verdict / decision. He said that at present when Pakistan is being run under the democracy and constitution, then each problem should be resolved as per democratic and constitutional rules. He said that dialogue was the best way to resolve the problems and advised the political opponents to get their problems resolved through dialogue.
Later on the Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad, The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah along with other cabinet members inspected Pakistan’s largest National flag displayed at the courtyard of Qaid-e-Azam mazar and also met different school and scout delegates participating in the Independence Day celebrations at the Qaid-e-Azam mazar. Both leaders encouraged and applauded the spirit and efforts of the school children and exhorted them to keep their spirits at high.
