Court orders provision of FIA report to Musharraf’s lawyers

ISLAMABAD: The special court on Thursday while accepting the application related to provision of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) report to the defence lawyers ordered that the report should be handed over to the defence lawyers team until May 14, Local TV reported.

The three-judge court, headed by Justice Faisal Arab of the Sindh High Court, heard the case pertaining to treason charges against the former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf.

The court in today’s hearing read out the earlier reserved judgement and said that it was the responsibility of the prosecution team to provide the report and other details to the defence lawyers.

The special court said that the process of recording testimonies would start from May 22.

The court subsequently adjourned the hearing of the case to May 14.

On April 25, the special court had reserved its judgment related to the issue. Musharraf’s lawyer Barrister farogh Nasim had demanded that along with the investigation report revealing the outcome of the investigation process, all the documents pertaining to the case should be also provided.
