Corps Commanders meeting underway in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif is chairing the Corps Commanders meeting today (Friday) at General Headquarters (GHQ) to discuss key issues.

The meeting will review various national security matters.The participants will also take a comprehensive review of prevalent internal and external security situation of the country.

Moreover, operational preparation and other professional affair will also be the part of meeting agenda.

While other, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that positive progress has been made in ongoing talks with the Taliban.

Talking to media here on Friday, Chaudhry Nisar said no previous government made such an effort in the past. He said that it was decided during the last meeting with Taliban Committee that the next meeting should be decisive and both sides’ agenda and demands should be put on the table.

He said that date for the next meeting was to be fixed by the other side. However, there is no hitch from the government or military side.

To a question, the interior minister said non-combatant Taliban prisoners were released in consultation with military authorities.

To another question, he emphatically stated that there has never been any deadlock in the peace process.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali said the government is sincere in the dialogue process and there is no delay on its part.
