Commissioner for massive plantation in Karachi

Karachi administration removed all types of wall chalking and flags of political and religious parties, except national flag from the Shahrah-e-Faisal.
Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui presiding over the second meeting of the committee of the ‘Sarsabz o Pursakoon Karachi ’ programme said green belts and footpaths would be painted with different colors. The meeting was informed fruit-bearing plants would also be included in 300,000 saplings to be planted under the ‘Sarsabz o pursakoon Karachi’ programme.
It was decided flower and kitchen garden plants would also be planted at various places in the city. It was stressed the meetings of various committees of the programme should be convened to expedite work. It was urged attention should be paid on industrial areas and in this regard cooperation of industrialists would be sought.
Commissioner was informed about falling of mangrove forests in Bin Qasim area. He assured the participants of the meeting he would take up this matter with Port Qasim Chairman and Deputy Commissioner Malir Qazi Jan Muhammad. Naeem Qureshi President National Forum for Environment & Health Director Media Local Government Rubina Asif, Director General Parks Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Tahir Durrani, head of the and Director Media Commissioner Shabih Siddiqui and others attended the meeting. Meanwhile Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said an awareness walk has been organised to sensitise the people about adopting preventive measures to protect themselves in time of natural calamities and earthquakes.
According to a handout issued, the officers, staff and students from schools, colleges, universities, scouts, Red Crescent and other government departments would participate in the walk on May 5. KMC, Traffic Police, Energy Department, Sindh Building Control Authority, Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Cantonments Boards, Civil Defence, Director Colleges, Director Schools, Fire Protection Association, notables and representatives of the business community would also take part in the walk. The Additional Commissioner-I Karachi Muhammad Aslam Khoso has been given the responsibility of focal person to organise the event.
