KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has asked corporate sector to do more and more social development work and include education, health and sports in their social development agenda on priority basis.
Speaking at a seminar on Corporate Social Responsibility organized by National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) here, Siddiqui assured all possible cooperation to corporate sector wherever it need help for social development works.
He said that social development works could be completed through public and private partnership in better way, hence, it is necessary to make full use of public and private partnership.
The commissioner said that the government had completed social welfare and development works like tree plantation in Karachi and ensure price control of commodities with the cooperation of citizens and private Institutions.
Siddiqui said that people had got awareness about their social responsibilities and were working for welfare and development. “It was laudable that corporate sector is playing better role in this regard but there is need to make further efforts in this regard.”
He said that tree plantation campaign in Karachi had been completed but that drive would not be stopped until the Karachi becomes green. Commissioner Karachi appreciated role of NFEH especially in tree plantation campaign ” Sarsabz O Pursakoon Karadhi.
President NFEH Mohammad Naeem Qureshi announced 7th CSR summit & CSR business excellence which will be held in January 2015 at Islamabad, he also briefed about CSR panel discussion which was held in September 2014 at Lahore & Islamabad.
NFEH Chairman Dr Kaiser Waheed said that the purpose and objective of CSR summit & Awards to highlight the social welfare efforts of corporate sectors. He recommended a joint forum of corporate sectors through which they would work jointly for development.
Mirza Ishtiaq Baig, Malik Khuda Baksh, Dr. Shehzad Ali, Rizwan Jaffar, Ghulam Mohammad, Dr. Sobia Akhter, Jamshed Ahmed, Shahbaz Islam, Nadeem Ashraf, Dr. Kashif Mehmood, Salman Siddiqui, Ruqiya Naeem, Shahzad Sohail, Khalid Iqbal and Mariam Nadir were also spoke on the occasion.
