CM Sindh orders LEAs for fool proof, integrated security strategy in Karachi

KARACHI: The Sindh Cabinet on its meeting held under the Chairmanship Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah this evening at CM House has fully endorsed the “Zarb-e-Azb” operation launched by the Pak-Army against militants in North Wazirstan and decided to contribute in this operation through its forces here in this province as well. Sindh cabinet expecting retaliation by the militants and their associate groups has directed LEAs for preparing a fool proof, integrated security strategy here in Karachi and other parts of the Sindh to meet with any eventuality of terrorists reprisal attacks.

The Cabinet decided the close liaison between all law enforcement agencies including Pak- Army to ensure prompt and systematic actions against the criminals.

The Cabinet decided to sensitize the other stake holder organizations, management of the vital public and private installations to beef up their inside and outside security addition to support from LEAs.

The Cabinet decided to establish strong check posts at all exit and entry points of the Sindh border and same would be jointly monitored by Rangers and Sindh Police to stop aliens and criminals if any before entering in the jurisdiction of province. It was also decided that strict checking would be carried out at these check posts, so that no criminal could take the advantage and hide himself in the shape of IDPS.

It was also decided necessary help will be sought from the NADRA to identify the nationality of the commuters.  As such all the commuters travelling other parts of the country have been advised to keep CNIC with them.

The Cabinet decided to establish help line with telephone number to get the information about suspected, terrorist’s activities from the public. The Cabinet directed the IG Police for early procurement of APC , Bullet Proof Waste / Vehicles  enabling the force to follow and fight the criminals .

The Cabinet decided / recommended the highest police medal to the Inspector General of Sindh Police , DIG Munir Shaikh, SSP Pir Muhammad Shah on account of their bravery fight with terrorist during the operation against terrorist at Karachi Airport.

Addressing the Meeting CM Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that we are like in  war situation and  suppose to be face the situation with serious efforts.

He directed the LEAS not to compromise on the security matters as it was their prime responsibility. He said that though our intelligent agencies special branch and CID are working well but same would be further developed through modern means to combat the situation with success.

He directed the IG Police to expedite the training to newly recruited forces and complete it shortest possible time. He also directed them to put strict vigilance over the Kacchi Abbadies specially those which are nearest to the vital installations.

The IG Sindh Police Iqbal Mehmood and Home Secretary Dr Niaz Abbasi brief the Cabinet about the overall performance of targeted operation and new strategy to combat with any eventuality of retaliation by the terrorist here at Karachi. They said that meetings are being conducted, with law enforcement agencies and Pak-Army an effective security plan was being prepared.

The Home Secretary said that all the Commissioners have been directed to prepare list of Vital Installations in their areas and identify security threats to these installations. He said that the management of the vital installations pertaining to Federal and Provincial Govt has been directed to beef up their Security.

 

PRISONERS ESCAPED FROM DISTRICT MALIR PRISON RECAPTUERED – SIX POLICE OFFICIERS/OFFICALS SUSPENDED

KARACHI: The spokesman of IG Prisons Sindh while clarifying the news item appeared in print media regarding escape of inmates from District Prison Malir Karachi, said that on 17-6-2014 at about 2.50 a.m. some inmates of District Prison Malir Karachi attempted to escape from prison who were challenged/fired upon by the Frontier Constabulary guards mounted on Watch Tower.

Resultantly, one inmate was re-captured and remaining two were missed, however both the said prisoners were also traced by the Prison administration on the same day on 17-6-2014 hidden in the prison premises.

He further said that six officers / officials of District Prison Malir Karachi including Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Hassan Sahto, Assistant Superintendent Kamran Sammand, Assistant Superintendent Ishtiaque Awan, Head Constable, Ghulam Sarwar,  Constables, Sohbat Ali and  Abid Ali, have been placed under suspension in the matter and an enquiry committee has been constituted by the Home Department, Government of Sindh, Karachi proceedings whereof are underway and findings shall be communicated to Government shortly.

 

IGP SINDH CONSTITUTES INSPECTION TEAM TO ASSESS EXISTING INFRASTRUCTURE, AVALIABLE ARMS & AMMUNITION STOCK AT POLICE STATIONS

KARACHI: IGP Sindh Iqbal Mahmood has constituted an “Inspection Team” under AIG Research & Development to conduct survey/assessment of all accommodation facilities of Sindh Police including offices of police officers and police stations.

He directed to initially launch the inspection work from police stations of Karachi Range. “The Inspection team should evaluate the existing infrastructure, details about available arms & ammunition, maintenance of police registers etc. The anomalies so identified must be incorporated in the report of Inspection Team along with necessary recommendations”, he stressed.

IGP Sindh while presiding over a meeting at CPO reviewed the overall law & order situation and issued directive to transfer all cases related to shaheed police officers to the Crime Branch with the directive to trace all such cases on fast track.

He also revisited the investigation progress specially related to murder cases under different heads in the province and directed to submit progress report and conviction rate of the cases registered/reported during the last 5 years.

IGP also reviewed the performance of Command and Control Center and Madadgar 15 located in CPO and directed DIG Training and Director I.T. to devise a training program for the police staff deputed there, on urgent basis. He directed SSP Muhafiz Force to adopt immediate measures to streamline the affairs of Madadgar 15.

Iqbal Mahmood while reviewing various police welfare projects, directed to expedite appointment of consultants/specialists in police hospital Karachi.

He further directed DIG Finance to ensure supply of ample medicines to the police hospitals at Karachi and Hyderabad. AIG Operations informed the meeting that police hospital at Sukkur was near to completion and this would cater to the medical facilities of the Sukkur Range.

IGP Sindh also apprised of the progress into town planning of the land for the heirs of police shuhada in Karachi and directed to accelerate the pace of work.
