CJ reserves decision on opening of election bags

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nasirul Mulk chaired an in-camera meeting of the Judicial Commission on election rigging on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by leaders and lawyers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The chief justice reserved his ruling on whether to allow the electoral body to open the sealed election bags for retrieving Form-15 to help in the ongoing probe. Lawyers of all the parties submitted their suggestions into the matter with the judicial commission.

After the meeting, ECP lawyer Salman Akram Raja told the media that the head of the commission has reserved his decision which he would announce shortly.

He said the ECP had no objection to opening of election bags to retrieve the forms as per the electoral body’s suggestions.
