Aziz Ansari, star of Master of None on Netflix

Aziz Ansari is starring in the series ‘Master of None,’ on Netflix which made him the first Indian-American actor to get a first romantic role on American television.

“It’s really cool, he told Variety. I hope that looking at Master of None, people will realize that Mr. Everybody is not necessarily a straight white man. In most TV shows and movies when you see Mr. Everybody is always a hetero white. But in reality, Mr. Everybody is everybody. Everyone has an interesting story, regardless of gender, sexual preference, ethnicity or history. I wanted to put it into perspective in our series.”

The 32-year-old actor role in Master of None happens after his success in the series Parks and Recreation, in which he played alongside Amy Poehler.

He wrote Master of None with Alan Yang, who was already working on Parks and Recreation, and the idea came to him two years ago because he was struggling to get roles because he was Indian.

“I would not have had such a role if I did not have it written myself. Normally, no one would have sent me such a scenario. We would have sent me repetitions of what I’ve done a character who talked with the Indian accent. It’s hard for minorities to find roles in Hollywood. But since the origins of the writers begin to change, I think that things could also change,” said Aziz Ansari.
