LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) supremo Altaf Hussain on Tuesday claimed that Pakistan Television (PTV), has never aired his party’s news because ‘they are not Pakistanis’.
Addressing MQM’s Youm-e-Shuhada (Martyrs Day) ceremony, Altaf Hussain said that his party observes martyrs day once in a year, adding that they would be declared traitors if they stage protest against party workers’ killings.
“More than 300 party activists embraced martyrdom in year 2013 and 2014”, MQM chief added. He paid tribute to his party’s martyrs who rendered sacrifices in MQM’s struggle.
Commenting on Model Town tragedy, Mr. Hussain said thirteen people including two women were killed in Model Town, while Dr Tahirul Qadri faced tear gas shelling but nobody came to help the protesters.
Condemning the killing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker in Faisalabad, Altaf said Imran Khan-led party announced to hold nationwide protest against the killing of the activist but when MQM staged demonstrations against workers’ killing they were declared ‘terrorists’.
Criticizing the Pakistan People Party (PPP) led Sindh government, MQM supremo said Hyderbad is the third largest city of Pakistan but provincial education minister said that the University in the city will be built over his dead body.
He said the people of Hyderabad have been demanding the establishment of the university in the city for the last 67 years.
Mr. Hussain said his party supported PPP in difficult times but the provincial interior minister of the party had made Peoples Aman Committee.
He added that the people of Sindh had opposed the construction of Kala Bagh Dam and his party became the wall against the dam. “MQM sent poor educated class to the legislatures”, Altaf said.
MQM chief said administrative units would speed up the development work in the province.
