KARACHI Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief, Altaf Hussain has appealed for blockades placed in light of the marches of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) to be removed.
In a statement the MQM chief once again appealed to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to remove the blockades. Major arteries of Punjab have been blocked in what the provincial government has called a major security requirement ahead of the PTI and PAT marches.
The provincial government has placed containers, trailers and other barriers throughout the province. Roads leading to Islamabad which is where the PTI and PAT will be headed have also been blocked.
Meanwhile roads in and around Model Town, Lahore have been sealed with containers. The provincial home department has proposed imposing a curfew in Model Town and Faisal Town which is where the Minhaj-ul -Quran Secretariat and residence of PAT chief Tahirul Qadri are located.
