A technical & scientific process of Dry-Core Drilling” at Mohen-jo-Daro inaugrated by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

LARKANA: Patron-in-Chief PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari inaugurated the project of Rs. 386 million “Dry-Core Drilling” at Mohen-jo-Daro, a technical and scientific process of determining the limits of archaeological sites and boundaries of World heritage MJD here on Saturday.
The ceremony was organized at the site of Moen-Jo-Daro, where Patron-in-Chief Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was briefed by the Advisor to CM for Culture and Tourism Department Sindh, Sharmila Farooqi.
She apprised about new developments of mega project and said that first phase of Rs 8.6 million dry-core drilling is first ever indigenous mega scheme at Mohen jo Daro, it was carried out on small scale exercise by Mr George F Dales, an American archaeologists some about 50 year back.
Sharmila Farooqi told that process of dry core drilling and coring up to 20 meter depth.
Besides, a detailed study will be carried out at Mohen jo Daro by the experts of Archaeology and Sediment logy to identify culture and natural layers, preparation of core logs sediment logical lab analysis and interpretation final assessment about the Moen jo Daro extent area.
She further told that it is understood that one hundred thousand people used to inhabit this area but existing excavated area does not coincide with this notion, adding that dry core drilling will ascertain the limits of this proto historic cosmopolitan city to determine its size when it was existed and flourished at its climax, certainly it would create avenues for research and exploration.
On the occasion, members of Executive Board and consultative committee for Moen Jo Daro Abdul Razaque Soomro, Commissioner Larkana Dr Saeed Ahmed Magnejo, Bashir Ahmed Brohi Secretary Culture department, Project Directio Moehnjodaro and Director Archaeology Sindh Qasim Ali Qasim, Kazi Ayaz Mahesar representative of UNESCO Islamabad and member Executive committee board on MJD, Syed Hakim Ali Shah Bukhari and other members attended the inauguration ceremony.
