43 CHILDREN HAVE DIED IN OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER IN MITHI – SPOKESMAN HEALTH

KARACHI: Spokesman of Health Department, Government of Sindh has said that from 1st October to 17th November total number of deaths in Mithi were 43, largely due to low weight at birth, pneumonia and asphyxia and as such all deaths are not associated with malnutrition.
He said there were 26 deaths in October which included 21 infants and 5 from one to five years of age, while in November i.e. till 17th November, 15 infants and 2 from one to five years have died in Tharparkar.
The spokesman said that during the whole year of 2014 till 17th November total number of deaths in Tharparkar are 240 which included 19 deaths of 1-5 years and 221 infants.
He said that all the deaths have been recorded / properly in details and the record could be verified from hospitals.
The spokesman appealed to media to kindly confirm any news before release as it creates an adverse impact if it is not based on facts.
