SUKKUR/MANSEHRA/SARGODHA: Sixteen persons lost their lives and several others were injured in different road accidents that occurred in Mansehra, Sargodha and Sukkur on Saturday morning.
In Sargodha, five persons of the same family were killed and two children were injured when a car collided with a trailer in Kot Momin area. Police told that the car was enroute to Lahore from Islamabad when the mishap took place on the motorway near Kot Momin area.
The victims that included two women were identified as Amir Shakoor, Basit, Asma Bibi, Shakoor and a child Arifa Bibi. Two injured children were identified as Fayaz and Aimen Bibi who were shifted to hospital for treatment. The deceased belonged to Lahore.
In another incident that took place in Sukkur, five persons were killed and several injured when a truck collided with a pick-up van near a vegetable market. The bodies and injured were shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities while the sources feared that the toll in the accident could rise.
The third unfortunate incident occurred in Mansehra where a coaster plunged into a ravine, killing six passengers and injuring 31 others. The victims included Pakistan Army soldiers as well.
According to police, the passenger coach was on its way to Gilgit from Rawalpindi when the accident occurred due to failure of breaks. As a result of mishap, six passengers including one Army soldier were killed while 31 others including seven Pakistan Army personnel sustained injuries.
The injured security men were returning to their duties at Siachen when the accident took place.
The bodies and injured were shifted to District Headquarter Hospital Mansehra, Ayyub Medical Complex and CMH Abbottabad.
