Pakistan beats Venezuela in special Olympics football

LAHORE: Pakistan Football team showed an impressive performance in the first main round robin match of Division 3, with a superb 3-0 win over favorite Venezuela in world games special Olympics on Tuesday at Los Angles .
Six teams are divided into two groups of A & B in the football competition in which, Pakistan is placed with Vanezuella and Isle of Man, said the information made available to here.
Pakistan put the pressure on Venezuela team from the beginning of the play and dominated the proceedings. Pakistan’s forwards attacked several time on opponents goal but the excellent performance of Venezuelan goal keeper foiled many ideal sitters. From Pakistan Shehryar struck twice and Abuzar (having only one hand) scored one.
In group A Italy, Nippon and Sylvania are competing against each other in round robin main round matches. Tomorrow, on Wednesday Isla of Man will play Venezuelans and on Thursday, Pakistan will be competing against Isla of Man.
Top two teams will compete in the knock out stage.In swimming Pakistan’s Farha finished seventh in division 4, 25 meters free style, her time was 43.94 seconds.
Mazhar Mahmood also remained medal less as he finished 4th in Division 10 of 100 meter free style with a timings of 1.24.71, third & fourth position players were just fraction of seconds ahead of Mazhar,
Kanton Tatu of Finland was the winner of Division 14, of 100 meters free style, in which eight countries special athletes took part.
The Healthy Athletes programme is progressing very well and the division process of special athletes was completed and tomorrow, on Wednesday, morning main round competitions will commence at various venues of City of Angels.
