ISLAMABAD- Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said today that ties between Islamabad and Kabul entered into new era by agreement over synchronization of military operation across Pak-Afghan border.
According to sources, the spokesperson said that a stable Afghanistan is very important for Pakistan and Islamabad always tried to improve ties with Kabul. This arrangement would achieve peace and stabilization in the two countries and the region by defeating menace of terrorism, she said. After the arrangement the sanctuaries of the terrorists in the bordering areas of the both countries would be in danger, she hoped.
The agreement on coordinated action between the two countries is another manifestation of expanding ties between Afghanistan and Pakistan. She said that it was noticed that whenever Pakistan launches military operation in its areas near Afghan border, the terrorists move across the border to hide. “This situation lead to the survival of the Militants,” she added. “Coordinated action was our demand that meant that a military operation across the border would be started at the same time.” The spokesperson said that now when militaries of the two countries agreed over the plan, stabilization of the region could be achieved that would be helpful for Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Pakistan had signaled for positive relations when it welcomed elections in Afghanistan and reiterated its support with any new set up in Kabul. Top officials of the two countries visited Kabul and Islamabad that helped understanding each other position.
Pakistani and Afghan Presidents reciprocally visited Islamabad and Kabul. Top military brasses from the two countries also met frequently to discuss controlling terrorism in the region. A day after the massacre of schoolchildren in Peshawar COAS Gen. Raheel Sharif flew to Kabul on a surprise visit to discuss ways to combat the Taliban.
