Emergency landing at Lahore airport, no loss of life

LAHORE: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-758 from London emergency landed at the Allama Iqbal International Airport here on Wednesday.

The emergency landing was caused by the wheels of the plane being jammed but fortunately all the passengers and crew onboard remained safe.

According to airport sources, minor damage was caused to the plane due to the emergency landing. Following the incident runway no.2 at the airport has been closed.

PIA spokesman, Hanif Rana denied that an emergency landing had taken place. He said that during taxiing there was a technical fault in the wheels and the pilot stopped the plane where it was.

Runway no.1 of the airport is closed after the front wheel axle of a Boeing 737 belonging to Shaheen airline was damaged on Tuesday.

However, no injuries or other damages were reported on the plane that was enroute from Karachi to Lahore with 172 passengers.
