Imran says democracy will be derailed if workers are stopped on May 11

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said that peaceful protest was a democratic right.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Imran Khan said democracy would be derailed if protesters were stopped on May 11 from taking part in the PTI rally scheduled to take place at D-Chowk.

Khan alleged that the police was harassing party workers warning that if any disturbance was caused by creation of hurdles, the government would be responsible.

The PTI chairman said the PML-N should tell the truth as all parties had agreed that rigging had taken place during the 2013 general elections. He asked what was the PML-N afraid of, if the party had won the elections fairly?

Imran added that it was now time for the PML-N to play the match with a neutral umpire.

Responding to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s invitation to visit the PM House and discuss rigging, Imran Khan said the prime minister could have extended the invitation via a phone call instead of saying it on television.
