CHINIOT: Three persons including a woman were washed away by flood water in Chiniot on Monday, Geo News reported.
According to rescue sources, the incident occurred in Sapra Colony area of flood-hit Chiniot where three persons including a woman drowned in the flood water. The bodies of the woman and a man were recovered while the search for the third victim is still underway.
Police told that the victims included a man, his wife and brother.
Meanwhile, a heavy deluge of 800,000 cusecs water would pass from River Indus at the site of Chachran Sharif between Sept 10-11 in the light of which evacuation from adjacent river areas has started.
According to district authorities, police in cooperation with army jawans is busy shifting locals to safer areas where relief camps have been set up. District livestock officer Dr Sibtain, while talking to media on Monday, said in the wake of floods 22 relief camps with basic amenities have been set up, adding that authorities have warned that 20 union councils in river areas could be hit by the floods.
