KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday said welcoming DG Rangers Sindh Bilal Akabar’s visit to Azizabad and other areas of Karachi, everybody wanted the metropolis to become a cradle of peace.
“Maj-Gen Akbar is a gentleman with bona fide intentions. His strategy to bring about peace Karachi deserves a round of applause. We can’t agree more to the need of action against the criminal elements,” the MQM leader Waseem Akhtar told.
In the same breath, Akhtar, however, condemned the extradjudicial arrests of his party’s workers by the Rangers and police.
“The MQM always raises voice against illegal detentions but it has never tolerated anyone who has been found involved in unlawful activities. We want all those criminals, who had infiltrated our ranks, behind the bars,” said he.
Replying to a question, Akhtar said that had this ‘fear of MQM’ a real thing then Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf would never have gotten 31 thousand votes.
