India rout South Africa by 130 runs

MELBOURNE: Defending champions India routed South Africa by 130 runs in a World Cup demolition at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.

Chasing 308 to win, South Africa looked nothing like one of the title favourites as they crumbled to 177 all out in the 41st over in front of a crowd of almost 87,000.

Only Faf du Plessis (55) showed any meaningful resistance after Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan had hit 137 and Ajinkya Rahane made 79 in the champions´ imposing total of 307 for seven.
